A man has been jailed for throwing a package containing illegal drugs and a mobile phone into HMP Hull. Joshua Smith, 30, received a sentence of three years and eight months at Hull Crown Court on Monday.
Smith, of no fixed address, had previously pleaded guilty to two counts of throwing a prohibited article into a prison. Police received a report on 11 July last year from a prison guard who saw a parcel falling over the wall after it had been thrown.
Det Con Heather Butler from Humberside Police stated that analysis of the package revealed an estimated £12,000 of drugs, including Class A drugs, and a mobile phone. CCTV footage from outside the prison reportedly showed a man making several attempts to throw a package over the wall.
