A former teacher and cafe owner, Jo Snowzell, 44, died accidentally after falling into a stream in Hereford city centre, an inquest heard. Assistant coroner Lindsey Tonks concluded that Ms Snowzell, who had been staying in a tent near Hereford Retail Park, died from cold water shock and drowning.
The inquest heard that Ms Snowzell had a long history of mental health disorders, including dependent personality disorder, and was dependent on alcohol at the time of her death. She had been alcohol-free between September 2022 and October 2024, winning an award for her rehabilitation, but had relapsed in October 2025.
On the morning of February 9th, her partner, Dan Jenkins, found her body in the water after seeing her pink coat nearby. Ms Snowzell's best friend, Hayley Turner, urged people to seek professional help for addiction, stating that early intervention is crucial.
