Four people, including a child, were reportedly killed when a US missile struck a building in southern Iran during wedding celebrations, according to the Iranian Red Crescent. BBC Verify has analysed footage of the aftermath and consulted a weapons expert to identify munition remnants.
The US military has acknowledged the reports but stated it never targets civilians. It added that its strikes on Iranian targets were in response to "recent attempted attacks" on American forces and commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has also launched missile and drone attacks at US targets across the Middle East after American forces resumed strikes against Iran.
