Victims of Charlotte Blackwell, 32, from Bridgend, are questioning why they have received only £163 of the £13,750 compensation she was ordered to pay. A judge in March 2025 handed Blackwell a suspended prison sentence and ordered the compensation for defrauding friends and family by faking a wedding.
Blackwell had agreed to pay £400 a month. However, her victims state that no payments have been made in the last four months, with the total received since the order being £163.
The fraud involved Blackwell taking £12,682 between 2022 and 2024 from members of a supposed wedding party, under the pretence it was for a planned ceremony in Turkey. The Ministry of Justice (MoJ) stated it could not provide specific details on enforcement due to data protection laws but affirmed it takes the recovery of financial penalties seriously.
Blackwell was previously spared jail in August 2024 for defrauding a children's cancer charity, Morgan's Army, of £4,000. Her barrister, Alice Sykes, stated in March 2025 that Blackwell was working full-time as an estate agent and receiving universal credit, and would be able to pay the compensation.
