A close friend of Beau Lamarre-Condon has told a Sydney court that despite an alleged obsession with his ex-partner, Jesse Baird, Lamarre-Condon never spoke about him in the three months before the alleged murders. Lamarre-Condon, 31, has pleaded not guilty to murdering Baird and Luke Davies in a Sydney terrace in February 2024.
Nicole Harvell, a police senior constable, testified on Wednesday that she was in almost daily contact with Lamarre-Condon but could not remember any conversation about Baird after the pair broke up for the final time. This testimony was heard during the NSW supreme court trial, where much evidence has focused on Lamarre-Condon’s alleged growing obsession with Baird.
Harvell also stated under cross-examination that Lamarre-Condon had months earlier told her about enlisting his mother to help him lie to Baird. This involved an Instagram story with flowers, designed to imply Baird had sent them, despite the pair not being in a relationship. When Baird discovered the ruse, Lamarre-Condon allegedly spent money on an identical bouquet and sent Baird a photo of his mother with it, implying she was the intended recipient from her partner.
