Man, 21, who died after Glasgow city centre attack named by police

Police have named Daniel Colrain, 21, who died in hospital after an assault in Glasgow city centre on Sunday. Inquiries are ongoing.

Police have named Daniel Colrain, 21, as the man who died after an attack in Glasgow city centre. Mr Colrain was found with serious injuries in Royal Exchange Square at approximately 03:05 on Sunday and died in hospital the following day.

A 19-year-old man was arrested in connection with the disturbance and has since been released pending further inquiries. Det Insp Jonny MacKinnon stated that no arrests have been made in connection with Mr Colrain's death at this time, and extensive inquiries are ongoing.

Another 21-year-old man was also assaulted, sustaining minor injuries. A 20-year-old man has been charged in connection with this separate assault and is scheduled to appear before Glasgow Sheriff Court at a later date.

Police Scotland have appealed for information regarding the attack and have established a dedicated online portal for anonymous submissions. Daniel Colrain's family is receiving support from specialist officers.

Ch Insp Stephen McManus confirmed that increased patrols will be carried out in the area, and members of the public with concerns or information are encouraged to approach these officers.
