Gabriel Jesus has sealed a permanent move to Barcelona from Arsenal on transfer deadline day. The 29-year-old striker has agreed a three-year contract with the Spanish champions after Arsenal accepted an offer believed to be worth £8.6m.

Jesus spent four years at Arsenal, registering 32 goals across 123 games after joining from Manchester City in 2022. He won a Premier League title with Arsenal last season, adding to four he secured with Manchester City.

Arsenal stated: "We thank Gabby for his contribution to the club during his four years with us and wish him and his family every happiness and success for the future." Jesus's departure follows a period where he reportedly fell down the pecking order, with Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres preferred in the lone strike role. Injury problems also limited him to 14 Premier League appearances last term.

Jesus is not the only departure on deadline day, as Fabio Vieira has also completed a permanent switch to Bundesliga club Hamburg. Vieira, who spent last season on loan at the German side, joined Arsenal for £34m in 2022.
