The BBC has announced that its popular winter sports programme, Ski Sunday, will no longer be produced. The show, which has been a staple of the broadcaster's output since 1978, covered alpine skiing action and various snow sports.
Philip Bernie, head of events at BBC Sport, stated that the decision was made as audience viewing habits evolve and to deliver value for licence fee payers. He added that the BBC remains committed to bringing audiences winter sport, particularly the Winter Olympics, across its platforms.
Ski Sunday's cancellation follows that of Football Focus, which ended earlier in 2026 after 52 years on air. The programme was fronted for many years by David Vine, with later presenters including Graham Bell, Ed Leigh, and Chemmy Alcott.
