Britain's America's Cup challenger, GB1, has expanded its sponsorship portfolio by adding timekeeper Richard Mille. The agreement was announced overnight, with Richard Mille joining as the team's only global partner.
GB1, led by Sir Ben Ainslie, is set to compete in the 38th America's Cup, which will take place next year in Naples. The team's boats are currently in Italy for a preliminary regatta.
Dylan Fletcher, skipper helm of GB1, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating it was "fantastic to now officially bring these two brands together." Peter Harrison, boss of Richard Mille, added that the agreement "marks a natural extension of our involvement in the world of sailing."
The upcoming America's Cup will be Ainslie's first since a High Court dispute with former backer Sir Jim Ratcliffe regarding rights to the America's Cup boat and its technology. GB1 is backed by Oakley Capital, which is linked to Christian Horner, and also has SunGod among its sponsors.
