US Senator Jon Ossoff, who is currently running for re-election in Georgia, is increasingly being discussed as a potential Democratic candidate for president in 2028. His public profile has been boosted by a media-savvy approach, including a distinctive photographic framing often referred to as the “Ossoff angle.”
This technique, which captures him from a low angle looking into the middle distance, has helped the Georgia senator reach social media users beyond his home state. Kathleen Hall Jamieson, a professor of communication at Penn’s Annenberg School, has drawn parallels between Ossoff's mastery of current media and John F Kennedy's understanding of television.
Ossoff, aged 39, remains the youngest US senator in a chamber where the average age is 65. Before entering public office, he was a filmmaker, and he has demonstrated a knack for engaging social media audiences with plain language and highlighting perceived absurdities.
His questioning of Trump administration officials, such as intelligence director nominee Jay Clayton during a July 2026 hearing, has also garnered significant social media attention. Ossoff has also held hearings on child welfare and federal prison abuses, both in Washington DC and Georgia.
