Ghana experienced a nationwide power blackout on Wednesday after a major fault on its national power grid. The outage has left the capital, Accra, the commercial hub of Kumasi, and much of the northern regions without electricity.

The state-run power distribution company reported that several power plants across the West African nation were forced to shut down in the early hours of Wednesday morning. Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) stated that its engineers and system operators are working to restore power safely and as quickly as possible.

The power cut has disrupted homes, businesses, and some essential services across multiple regions. GRIDCo has initiated a comprehensive technical investigation to determine the cause of the outage but did not specify how long it would take for normal supplies to resume.
