Romell Glave has stormed to victory in the European 100m final, clinching the gold medal, while Jeremiah Azu secured silver, completing a remarkable British one-two.
Glave, a Jamaican-born Briton, crossed the finish line in 10.09 seconds. Azu followed shortly after, recording a time of 10.16 seconds. Germany's Owen Ansah claimed the bronze medal in 10.19 seconds.
The race saw a significant turn of events when Olympic champion Marcell Jacobs, who had a tattoo of the Roman colosseum and a gladiator on his arm, pulled up injured and hobbled over the line in last place.
Glave, 26, has been working on his sprint mechanics and mental approach with coach Michael Afilaka, following a back injury in 2024. His winning time of 10.09 seconds, though modest compared to his season's best of 9.97 seconds, marked a significant upset in a major championship.
In other events, Italy's Nadia Battocletti won gold in the women's 5,000m, finishing in 15 minutes 37.84 seconds. Spain's Marta Garcia took silver, and another Italian, Micol Majori, secured bronze. Britain's Hannah Nuttall finished fifth after being in a strong position earlier in the race.
