Glyn Razzell, who was convicted of murdering his estranged wife Linda in 2003, will remain in prison after a High Court judge last week quashed a Parole Board decision to release him.
Razzell was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term of 16 years. Linda Razzell vanished in March 2002, and her body has never been recovered.
The Parole Board had approved his release in April, stating his imprisonment was "no longer necessary" to protect the public. However, Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb overturned this decision on Friday, stating she was "not persuaded that the risk has diminished to such a level that offender management is capable of keeping the public safe if the defendant is released."
This marks the first time the High Court has overturned a Parole Board ruling following a referral from the Secretary of State for Justice. Razzell will return to HMP Hollesley Bay in Suffolk, an open prison where he has been for the last nine years.
