Authorities allege that Tyronne Brazille, 50, killed his wife, Lanessa Bradford, also 50, during an argument at Independence Community Park in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Instead of contacting law enforcement, Brazille reportedly placed her body in the passenger seat of his car.
He then allegedly drove for about five hours, covering almost 400 miles (644km), through Mississippi before being stopped in downtown Memphis, Tennessee. Police pulled his vehicle over for a traffic violation, where they discovered Ms Bradford deceased with a gunshot wound.
Mr Brazille was arrested as a fugitive and is scheduled to appear at an extradition hearing in Memphis on Monday. He faces a charge of second-degree murder in Louisiana, according to his arrest warrant.
