Gogo Business Aviation has received regulatory clearance to install its in-flight connectivity systems on Dassault Falcon business jets, opening up faster internet access for corporate and private aviation customers. The approval, granted by the relevant aviation authorities, covers the installation of Gogo's AVANCE L5 platform on several Falcon models, including the Falcon 2000EX, 7X, and 8X.
The AVANCE L5 system promises download speeds of up to 60 Mbps, enabling video conferencing, streaming, and real-time data sharing at altitude. For UK-based operators and charter firms, this means passengers can expect a level of connectivity comparable to ground-based broadband, a significant upgrade from older satellite systems.
Business aviation has become increasingly reliant on robust in-flight connectivity, particularly for executives who need to remain productive during long-haul flights. Gogo's expansion into the Falcon fleet addresses a gap in the market, as Dassault's jets are widely used by corporate flight departments in Europe and the Middle East.
The approval comes at a time when demand for premium air travel is rising, with UK business aviation activity showing steady growth post-pandemic. Analysts suggest that enhanced connectivity could become a deciding factor for charter clients choosing between operators. Gogo's move also pressures competitors such as Viasat and Honeywell to accelerate their own certification programmes.
For UK passengers flying on Dassault Falcon jets, the change will be tangible. From next month, operators can begin retrofitting existing aircraft with the new system, while new deliveries may include the AVANCE L5 as standard. The company has confirmed that installation will be available through authorised service centres across Europe.
