Google today launched the screen-less Fitbit Air fitness tracker in India. The device is priced at ₹13,999, which is roughly $146, positioning it as a premium product in the market. In comparison, the same device costs $99 in the U.S.
The Fitbit Air, first unveiled in May, includes features such as 24/7 heart rate monitoring, heart rhythm monitoring with A-fib alerts, blood oxygen level tracking, resting heart rate, heart rate variability, and sleep stage analysis. Its screen-less form factor is intended to cater to the increasing demand for health gadgets that offer a distraction-free experience.
The screen-less wearable market is seeing growth, with devices from companies like Garmin, Luffu Link, and Indian startups such as Noise and Urban. Counterpoint Research indicates that India accounts for 5% of this market. The Fitbit Air will be available for purchase from October 2 on the Google Store and through retail partners including Flipkart, Croma, Reliance Digital, and Vijay Sales. Google is also providing a free three-month Google Health premium membership with the new band.
