  • Over £310,000 has been allocated to families for back to school costs.

The government has confirmed that over £310,000 has been provided to families to help with back to school costs. The Back to School Bonus offered a one-off payment of up to £150 for uniforms, stationery, and other essentials.

This scheme was available to families earning less than £75,000, covering children from reception to Year 11. The Social Security department reported approving 2,552 payments for 1,450 primary school pupils and 1,102 secondary school pupils for the upcoming term.

Approximately 70 additional applications are currently being assessed, with the final payment cycle scheduled before the end of August. These bonuses coincide with a new school uniform policy that limits States schools to five branded uniform items per child.
