Grand Theft Auto 6 reportedly hit by new leak ahead of 'Extended Look'

New footage and a gameplay map for Grand Theft Auto 6 have reportedly leaked online, just over a week before an official 'Extended Look' is due to premiere.

  • Footage reportedly shows a protagonist named Jason and a map of Leonida, a fictional setting modelled on Florida.
  • The leak's authenticity is unconfirmed.
  • An 'Extended Look' at the game is scheduled to premiere on Netflix on August 27.

Grand Theft Auto 6 has reportedly experienced another leak, occurring just over a week before its scheduled 'Extended Look' release. The leaked content, which may or may not be genuine, is said to show one of the game's protagonists, Jason, at his ocean view home, engaging in activities such as shooting basketball hoops and using gym equipment.

Another clip reportedly features Jason driving a car and attacking a non-player character (NPC). The leak also appears to include a complete map of Leonida, the game's fictional setting inspired by Florida. The footage has been widely shared across social media platforms.

This apparent leak precedes an 'Extended Look' at the game, which is set to premiere on Netflix at 8pm on August 27. The 'Extended Look' will be more widely available at 2am the following morning, but Rockstar Games' initial decision to release it behind a streaming paywall has reportedly caused frustration among some fans.

This is not the first instance of leaks affecting GTA6's rollout. Earlier this year, Rockstar reportedly dismissed several staff members after accusing them of sharing confidential information. In 2022, a British teenager was arrested for allegedly hacking Rockstar and leaking over an hour of development footage for Grand Theft Auto 6.

Despite some fan concerns about potential delays to the physical release due to leaks, Take Two boss Strauss Zelnick has reportedly debunked such rumours. Grand Theft Auto 6 is scheduled for release on November 19, with new figures suggesting that the majority of fans are preordering the more expensive Ultimate edition, which includes several exclusive in-game features, over the cheaper Standard edition.
