Green Hill Solar Farm granted development consent

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero has granted development consent for the Green Hill Solar Farm, an electricity generating station with a capacity of up to 500 megawatts.

The Department for Energy Security and Net Zero has granted development consent for the Green Hill Solar Farm. The project includes an electricity generating station with a capacity of up to 500 megawatts, comprising ground-mounted solar arrays and associated infrastructure.

Green Hill Solar Farm Limited submitted the application to the Planning Inspectorate on 23 May 2025, and it was accepted for examination on 19 June 2025. Following a six-month examination, during which local communities and interested parties provided evidence, recommendations were made to the Secretary of State on 8 July 2026.

Baroness Curran made the decision on behalf of the Energy Secretary's legal authority. This marks the 114th energy application out of 182 examined to date by the Planning Inspectorate, completed within the statutory timescale set by the Planning Act 2008.
