Greens leader David Shoebridge has denied knowing about an alleged crisis management document related to allegations against Senator Jordon Steele-John. Nine newspapers reported on Friday afternoon about a "secret dossier," first drafted in 2016, which reportedly contained misconduct allegations against the Western Australian Greens senator and strategies to suppress media coverage.
Mr Shoebridge stated that the 47-page document was not "made by, used by, or seen by the leader’s office." He confirmed that the office is committed to a comprehensive, fair, independent, and timely investigation of the matters.
Senator Steele-John confirmed his departure from the party room on Thursday after historical complaints of inappropriate comments made to women between 2017 and 2025 were aired. He rejected the claims and referred them to the Western Australian Greens for an independent process. Mr Shoebridge has referred the complaints to the independent parliamentary standards commission, and Senator Steele-John will not return to parliament until investigations are complete.
