Gymnast Ruby Evans has delivered Wales' first gold medal at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, winning the floor final. The 19-year-old's performance was the final routine of the women's programme.

Evans' victory saw her overcome England's Abigail Martin, who secured silver, and Martin's team-mate Shantae-Eve Amankwaah, who took bronze. This win marks a significant turnaround for Evans, who was reportedly in tears on Sunday after finishing sixth in the all-round individual competition, following Wales' fourth-place finish in the team event.

This gold medal is the first victory for Team Wales in Scotland and their ninth medal overall, complementing two silver and six bronze. Boxer Connor Williams has also secured a guaranteed podium position after reaching the semi-finals.
