Hampshire have been relegated to Division Two of the County Championship, marking their first return to the division since their promotion in 2014. This follows their five-wicket loss to Leicestershire at Uptonsteel Grace Road.

Leicestershire successfully chased a target of 334 runs, with New Zealand international Nick Kelly contributing 86 and wicketkeeper Ben Cox scoring an unbeaten 75. The pair shared a 158-run fifth-wicket partnership, securing victory by 14:05 BST on the final day.

The result means Leicestershire maintain a mathematical chance of avoiding relegation, despite a 27-point penalty issued on Wednesday for a sub-standard pitch. However, it is considered a near certainty that they will also play in Division Two next year.
