Hampshire Cricket has confirmed that New Zealand all-rounder Scott Kuggeleijn will not represent the club. The decision was made after the club "listened to feedback from staff and supporters."
Kuggeleijn, 34, had been named in Hampshire's squad for a County Championship match against Warwickshire on Tuesday. However, less than an hour before play began on Wednesday, the county announced he would not participate in their final four games.
In 2015, Kuggeleijn faced a rape charge and was acquitted in 2017 following a re-trial due to a hung jury. The player was reportedly present at Utilita Bowl on Wednesday for the first day of the game.
Hampshire Cricket stated: "Having reflected and listened to feedback from staff and supporters Hampshire Cricket can confirm that Scott Kuggeleijn will not represent the club." The club added that it values the passion of its fanbase and thanked those who shared their views.
