England captain Harry Kane has rewritten the Bundesliga record books, becoming the fastest player to net 100 goals in the German top flight. Kane reached the century mark in his 98th league appearance for Bayern Munich during their dominant 7-0 win against Union Berlin.
The remarkable achievement shatters a 49-year-old record set by Cologne's Dieter Müller in 1977, who took 129 matches to reach the same milestone. Kane's prolific scoring has seen him average a Bundesliga goal every 78.5 minutes since his arrival in 2023.
Kane secured the record with a 39th-minute penalty, before adding his 101st Bundesliga goal early in the second half from a Michael Olise cross. This double helped propel Bayern to the top of the table ahead of other weekend fixtures. Olise also made headlines, scoring his first Bayern hat-trick in the same match.
Speaking to Sky Germany, Kane expressed his pride: “I’m very proud to have now scored 100 and 101 Bundesliga goals. I haven’t been around that long. I’ve loved every second of it.” He also thanked his teammates, the club, coach, and staff for their support, adding, “Let’s keep going like this.”
