Andoni Iraola, now at the helm of Liverpool, is set to face his former club Bournemouth this weekend. His tenure with the Cherries saw them achieve their highest-ever finish and their first competitive foray into Europe, finishing sixth last season.
Before his departure, Iraola engaged in an amicable transfer of power, holding a two-hour meeting with his successor, Marco Rose. Iraola shared insights into the squad and individual players, stating, "I think everything was so clean with the club that normally in this process you don’t have the chance to talk to the previous manager."
Liverpool have drawn three of their four league games under Iraola. Bournemouth, under Rose, have drawn their last three matches, following 18 draws last season. Eight of Bournemouth's final 12 matches under Iraola also ended in a draw.
Iraola acknowledged the differing expectations at Liverpool compared to Bournemouth regarding draws. He stated, "When you draw 2-2 at Newcastle with Bournemouth, it is a good result, but I understand that with Liverpool it is not. If you draw a game, you lose two points."
