Harry Kane has made German football history by becoming the quickest player to net 100 Bundesliga goals. The England captain reached the landmark in just his 98th league appearance during Bayern Munich’s dominant 7-0 win against Union Berlin.
This achievement shatters a 49-year-old record previously held by Cologne’s Dieter Muller, who needed 129 matches in 1977. Kane's remarkable scoring rate, averaging a league goal every 78.5 minutes since his arrival in 2023, made this record-breaking feat seem inevitable.
Kane secured his 100th goal with a 39th-minute penalty, before adding his 101st with a header from a Michael Olise cross early in the second half. This victory propelled Bayern to the top of the table ahead of the weekend's remaining matches.
The 33-year-old striker expressed his pride to Sky Germany, stating, “I’m very proud to have now scored 100 and 101 Bundesliga goals. I haven’t been around that long. I’ve loved every second of it.” He also thanked his team, the club, coach, and staff for their support.
Kane is currently the bookmakers’ favourite to win the Ballon d’Or in October. Last season, he scored 73 goals for club and country, surpassing Cristiano Ronaldo's career-best single-season record of 69 goals from 2011-12.
