Hayley Mills, who played Kathy Bostock in the 1961 film "Whistle Down the Wind," is set to appear at a Q&A session at the BFI Southbank in London on 4 September. She will be joined by co-stars Diane Poole (Nan Bostock) and Alan Barnes (Charles).
The event will follow a screening of a new 35mm print of the film. "Whistle Down the Wind" was based on a novel by Mary Hayley Bell, Mills' mother, and tells the story of children who discover a man in their barn and believe him to be Jesus.
The film was shot in Lancashire, with most of the child actors being local to the area. Mills recalled the filming experience, noting the mud and the food, which included dripping, jam butties, and fried eggs in a bun. Diane Poole, who was 10 at the time of filming, recounted how director Bryan Forbes and Richard Attenborough visited her school to find child actors.
A BFI Film Classic book about "Whistle Down the Wind" is scheduled for publication on 3 September.
