The 2006 Disney Channel movie, High School Musical, has returned to the London stage with a new adaptation opening this week at the Troubadour Wembley Park theatre. The production features throwback stars, including McFly's Harry Judd and Kaycee Stroh, known as the original film's "pop-and-lock girl."
The film, which proved that "teen drama can always be solved through song," became an enduring piece of pop culture. It premiered to 7.7 million US viewers, Disney Channel's highest-rated broadcast at the time, and its soundtrack became the number one album of 2006.
This new immersive rendition follows a previous London stage show in 2008 and a UK tour. The current production has already played in Salford this summer, where its run was extended due to demand.
