Candidates are being announced for the Holborn and St Pancras by-election, which is set to take place on 8 October. The seat became vacant after former prime minister Sir Keir Starmer announced he was standing down to focus on a role in international affairs.
Sagal Abdi-Wali is standing for the Labour Party. She has led Camden Council since May and has been a councillor for Camden Square since 2022.
Ewan Cameron is the Conservative candidate. He was a councillor on Camden Council from 1998 to 2002.
Briony Kapoor will stand for the Rejoin EU Party, having previously served as an independent town councillor in Folkestone and Hythe. Pete Newman is the candidate for Reform UK, and the party states he served with the Metropolitan Police between 2004 and 2009.
Zack Polanski, leader of the Green Party of England and Wales since September 2025, is standing for the Green Party. Patrick Stillman, a Lib Dem councillor for West Hampstead, is standing for the Liberal Democrats.
Nominations for candidates close on Tuesday 15 September at 16:00 BST.
