Amy Hunt and Dina Asher-Smith made history for Great Britain at the European Championships, with Hunt securing an unprecedented fourth gold medal and Asher-Smith becoming the most decorated athlete in the competition's history. Hunt, 24, anchored the mixed 4x100m relay team to victory in a European record of 39.97 seconds, adding to her 100m, 200m, and women's 4x100m triumphs.

Asher-Smith, with her eighth gold and 11th medal overall, now stands as the most successful athlete in the 92-year history of the championships. The team, which also included Jeremiah Azu and Zharnel Hughes, extended Great Britain's dominance in sprint events.

Georgia Hunter Bell, 32, claimed a commanding gold in the women's 1500m final, marking her third major international title of 2026. She aims to complete a quadruple at the inaugural World Ultimate Championships in September. Great Britain finished the championships with 19 medals overall, securing nine golds but were narrowly pipped to the top spot in the medal table by Italy.

Matthew Hudson-Smith also made history, surpassing Christophe Lemaitre as the most decorated man in championship history with his ninth medal, a silver in the men's 4x400m relay. Jazmin Sawyers earned a silver in the long jump with a career-best outdoor leap of 6.99 metres, while the women's 4x400m relay team also secured silver.
