Chad Williams, 24, the suspect in Saturday's shooting at a fast-food restaurant in Twin Falls, Idaho, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, authorities have stated. Twin Falls police chief Matthew Hicks said on Sunday that investigators are confident Williams carried out the attack alone.
The incident resulted in the deaths of three people and injuries to seven others. Of those wounded, two have been treated and released from the hospital, three remain in stable condition, and two are in critical condition.
Chief Hicks reported that an off-duty state trooper and an armed citizen returned fire, which is believed to have caused the suspect to move away from the restaurant. Hicks commended their actions, stating, "We believe their actions helped drive the suspect away from the scene, preventing further casualties."
Detectives are continuing to investigate the motive behind the attack, with Williams' family reportedly cooperating fully with investigators. The FBI has requested that anyone with photos or video from the shooting submit the material to aid the investigation.
The owner of the fast-food chain, Lynsi Snyder, confirmed that one of the deceased was an employee, expressing profound sadness in a statement released on Sunday.
