Two people have been arrested following the fatal shooting of a man at a traveller site, Wiltshire Police confirmed. The victim, who was in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene in Calcutt, near Cricklade, at about 08:15 BST.
A man in his 70s and a woman in her 40s were arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm and assisting an offender. Both individuals remain in police custody.
Detective Chief Inspector Phil Walker, from Wiltshire Police's Major Crime Investigation Team, stated that a murder investigation is underway. Inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the incident and to locate all involved parties.
A cordon has been established at the site, and the road leading to it is closed. Police have appealed for anyone with information or who witnessed anything suspicious this morning to come forward.
