India concluded its campaign at the Asian Games in Japan with an impressive tally of 85 medals. The country secured 21 gold, 27 silver, and 37 bronze medals, showcasing a broad spectrum of sporting talent.
Among the notable achievements was the Indian women’s hockey team clinching a gold medal, marking their first victory in the event after a 44-year wait. Individual athletes also made history, with Neeru Dhanda becoming the first Indian woman to win an individual gold in trap shooting at the Asian Games, also securing a second gold and a silver.
Many medal winners, such as Vithya Ramraj, Sahil Jadhav, and Aslam Inamdar, faced significant financial challenges and limited facilities during their training. Their stories highlight the personal struggles behind India's success, with some relying on borrowed equipment or family sacrifices to pursue their athletic careers.
