Jakob Ingebrigtsen made a late push but ultimately secured a silver medal in the 5000m at the World Road Running Championships in Copenhagen. Eritrea's Dawit Seare clinched the gold, crossing the line in a national record time of 12:56, just ahead of Ingebrigtsen, who also set a national record of 12:59.
The race saw a fluctuating lead before Ethiopia's Mezgebu Sime took charge. Seare then moved to the front, with Ingebrigtsen closing a significant gap in the final stages. Despite briefly overtaking Seare, Ingebrigtsen faded in the last 100m, allowing Seare to reclaim the lead and secure the win. Saywon Amanuel of Eritrea finished third.
In other events, Ethiopia's Likina Amebaw continued her strong season by winning the women's 5k in a season's best 14:41. France's Agathe Guillemot claimed the women's mile world title with a world-leading time of 4:22.74, while Germany's Robert Farken won the men's mile in a world-leading 3:51.80, overcoming early leader Yared Nuguse of the USA.
