Liverpool forward Alexander Isak is set to miss Sweden's final three Nations League group fixtures and will return to his club due to a minor thigh injury, the Swedish Football Association announced. Swedish coach Graham Potter confirmed the setback, stating, "He's got a small problem with his thigh. It's not a big one but because of the amount of games we've got in a small space of time, he won't be able to make those."
The 27-year-old striker, who joined Liverpool from Newcastle United last year for £125 million, scored in Sweden's 2-1 victory over Romania on Friday before sustaining the injury. Potter described the situation as frustrating for Isak, who has started the season strongly for Liverpool, netting four goals in five league matches and currently ranking as the Premier League's second-highest scorer.
Sweden is scheduled to host Poland on Monday, followed by matches against Bosnia & Herzegovina and Romania. Liverpool's next fixture is against Manchester City at Anfield on 11 October. Isak's previous season at Anfield was hampered by injuries, including a fractured leg that kept him out for approximately four months.
