Liverpool secured their inaugural win under manager Andoni Iraola, defeating Ipswich thanks to two rapid goals from Alexander Isak. The forward, who had a challenging debut season, scored twice by the 10th minute, with both assists coming from Cody Gakpo.
The match also marked the debut of Liverpool's latest star signing, Bradley Barcola. The £123m player, whose transfer took an entire summer to complete, entered the game in the second half, reportedly increasing Liverpool's attacking velocity.
Ipswich's defence struggled in the opening spell, conceding two goals in quick succession. Despite this, Ipswich did create some chances, with Leif Davis heading over from an Abdul Fatawu cross.
