Israel’s Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben-Gvir, is reportedly planning to introduce crocodiles to patrol a moat around a new high-security jail. He is also building an execution site for Palestinian prisoners, which will include spectator booths.
Last week, Mr Ben-Gvir released an AI-generated video depicting Palestinian prisoners entering a facility and emerging emaciated. He also recently visited Damon prison in northern Israel, where he reportedly taunted female prisoners who had complained about conditions.
The law mandating the death penalty for Palestinians convicted of lethal attacks by military courts, championed by Mr Ben-Gvir, is said to be built on public support and has the approval of Israel’s Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu.
