British tennis player Jack Draper has withdrawn from this week's Mubadala DC Open due to a left arm injury, tournament officials have confirmed. This marks another setback for the 24-year-old, who has faced persistent fitness issues throughout the year and missed the first three Grand Slam events.
Draper, whose ranking has fallen to 147, was scheduled to play American Alex Michelsen in the first round. He will be replaced in the draw by lucky loser Mackenzie McDonald.
In other tennis news, Cameron Norrie made light work of American Aleksandar Kovacevic at the Miffel Tennis Open, securing a 6-4 6-1 victory. This win ends a six-match losing streak for the fifth seed, stretching back to April, and sees him progress to the last 16.
In Washington, Katie Boulter was defeated by Ashlyn Krueger in three sets, 3-6 6-2 6-2. Boulter had a strong start, winning the first set, but Krueger turned the match around to set up a last-16 clash against Naomi Osaka.
