England's James Wade has clinched his first World Series of Darts title, overcoming Australian qualifier Brody Klinge with an 8-5 victory in the Australian Masters final. The 43-year-old secured the win in a dramatic best-of-15 final held in Wollongong, New South Wales.
This triumph marks Wade's first World Series title in his third final appearance, 13 years after his debut in the competition. Klinge, 34, mounted a thrilling comeback from 6-2 down to 6-5, but 'The Machine' held his nerve to seal the win, finishing the final with an average of 101.62.
Klinge, the Australian Darts Association number one, had an impressive run, becoming only the second qualifier to reach a World Series final. He secured victories against European champion Ross Smith, Gian van Veen, and last week's New Zealand Masters winner Jonny Clayton on his path to the final.
Following this sixth and final event of the World Series of Darts' regular season, attention now turns to the Finals, which are set to take place in Amsterdam from 17 to 20 September.
