Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher will not be made bankrupt after settling an unpaid tax bill with HM Revenue and Customs. Judge Nicholas Briggs dismissed a bankruptcy petition against the 48-year-old at the Insolvency and Companies Court on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, after being informed the debt had been paid.
The petition was initially brought in August. Kevin Hassan from HMRC confirmed at the London hearing that the outstanding amount had been settled. No further details regarding the value of the tax bill or the circumstances behind the original debt were disclosed during the proceedings.
Carragher, who spent his entire professional playing career at Liverpool before retiring in 2013, has since become a prominent television football pundit in the UK and also works for CBS Sports in the United States.
