Jamie Vardy has made a return to English football, joining Championship side Burnley as a free agent. The striker, who will celebrate his 40th birthday in January, has signed a contract that will keep him at the club until the end of the current season.
Vardy spent the previous season playing for Cremonese in Italy. Despite a burgeoning media career, including a podcast and reality TV appearances, Vardy has maintained his intention to continue playing. He made his Football League debut at the age of 25 after signing for Leicester.
Burnley, managed by Nicky Hayen, were relegated from the Premier League last term and are currently without a win after their first five Championship matches, sitting at the bottom of the division. Vardy expressed his eagerness to contribute, stating, "I can’t wait to get going on the pitch and help the team move in the right direction."
