Jason Knight has become the first Republic of Ireland player to declare that the team should not be playing against Israel. He spoke out after the 1-0 defeat to Kosovo in Pristina.
"Look, it's difficult, the manager, and Dara, and Nathan [Collins] spoke well about it, I don't think the game should be going ahead but it is going ahead," Knight said. "We'll have a deeper talk about it and what that means, we'll get our thoughts as a group and go from there."
Captain Dara O'Shea had said the matter would be discussed between squad members on Friday. Knight said he would give his view when he sees fit but would try to focus on the football as much as possible.
The fixture is due to be played on Sunday on neutral territory in Debrecen. The Stop The Game protest group has called for the match to be boycotted amid the conflict in Gaza.
