Jeffrey Archer, the prolific author and former politician, has died at 86. His death occurred during the Conservative Party conference, just before the release of his final novel, 'Adam & Eve', and the start of its promotional campaign.
Archer was reportedly in good spirits leading up to his death. He had been actively planning promotional activities for his new book, including seeking to appear on a podcast. His career, which began with 'Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less' in 1976, saw him sell more than 300 million books globally.
Known for his dramatic life and novels, Archer's final year included a party at his home to celebrate his 60th wedding anniversary with his wife, Mary. This event was attended by figures such as John Major and Kemi Badenoch.
Archer had previously served a four-year sentence for perjury and perverting the course of justice, being released early in 2003. During his imprisonment, he wrote 'A Prison Diary', which offered a detailed account of prison life.
