Jenny Shin of South Korea held her nerve through a testing final round to secure the Women's Scottish Open title at Dundonald, marking her first LPGA Tour victory in over a decade. Shin, who carded a three-over-par 75 on Saturday, finished the tournament on nine under, two shots ahead of fellow South Korean A-Lim Kim.
Shin's victory is a significant milestone, being only her second LPGA Tour title in 368 attempts. Her previous win came at the Volunteers of America Texas Shootout in 2016. The emotion was clear as Shin holed her final putt on the 18th, visibly moved before being celebrated by friends with water and champagne. She remarked that this win felt different, like it had been truly earned through hard work, contrasting it with her debut title which she felt was accidental.
A-Lim Kim made a strong push on the final day, recording a fine round of 68 to finish at seven under par. Thailand's Pajaree Anannarukarn secured third place, a further two strokes back at five under. The challenging conditions throughout the week meant only 10 players managed to finish under par after four rounds.
Among the notable players, England's Charley Hull concluded her tournament on 10 over par after a final round of 74. American star Nelly Korda, who has already claimed two majors this year, posted a round of 69 to finish in a share of 16th place at two over. Korda reflected on the varied weather conditions experienced at Dundonald, from sunshine to gusty winds and sideways rain, seeing it as preparation for the upcoming major.
The focus for many of the world's top female golfers now shifts to the final major of the year, the Women's Open. The prestigious tournament is scheduled to commence on Thursday at Royal Lytham and St Annes in Lancashire, promising another week of high-stakes golf on UK soil.
