A new fund has been launched in Jersey by a charity with the aim of improving health and wellbeing across the island. The Island Health Fund, created by the Jersey Community Foundation, will offer a dedicated channel for individuals, families, businesses, and charitable trusts to support various projects.
These projects could include medical equipment, research, clinical innovation, community health initiatives, and specialist training, according to the Jersey Community Foundation. Chief executive Anna Terry stated that the fund is about enabling additional philanthropic support rather than replacing government funding.
An independent panel is to be established to oversee funding decisions and help determine priorities for the fund. Jersey's Health Minister, Tom Binet, welcomed the initiative, highlighting the opportunity it creates to attract new philanthropic contributions for health and wellbeing in Jersey.
