As millions in Europe prepare for tonight's solar eclipse, Jet2 has released a list of 10 scheduled flights that could offer passengers views of the event. Spain is within the "path of totality," where the moon will completely block the sun.
The 8.15pm LS1836 service from Ibiza to Bristol is anticipated to pass closest to the path of totality over northern Spain and the Bay of Biscay. Passengers on this flight may have one of the strongest chances of seeing the total eclipse from the air.
Other flights identified include the 7.05pm LS874 service from Faro to Manchester, which could fly through a high-coverage eclipse zone over western Portugal. The 6pm LS1892 flight from Tenerife South to Bristol may also get close to a high-coverage area as it travels towards north-west Spain.
Additional services listed by Jet2 include flights from Agadir Al-Massira, Alicante, Málaga, Palma de Mallorca, and Zante Zakynthos to various UK airports, with departure times ranging from 8pm to 9pm local time.
Iberia also plans to livestream the total solar eclipse from a special chartered flight at 10,000 metres. This flight is not open to general passengers, but footage will be shared on its social media channels.
