The music world is set for a disappointing blow as Johnny Marr's highly anticipated Wembley Arena show with special guest Baxter Dury has been plunged into uncertainty. The veteran singer-songwriter was gearing up to deliver his largest solo concert to date on 24 October, but it seems the gig won't be going ahead as planned – at least not just yet.
The OVO Arena Wembley team have issued a statement expressing regret over the postponement and acknowledging the frustration this news will cause for fans who had made travel plans or secured tickets. They're working behind the scenes to reschedule the show, but so far, no new date has been confirmed – and they won't be announcing one until further notice.
For those who've already splashed out on tickets, don't worry: refunds will be automatic and processed back through the original payment method. No need to get in touch with ticket sellers or OVO Arena Wembley directly – just sit back and wait for the rescheduled date to be announced.
The reason behind the postponement remains a mystery, but one thing's for sure: Marr's got a lot on his plate at the moment. He's currently tearing up stages across Europe as part of his solo tour, with a gig in Spain scheduled for tomorrow (23 July). His next album, 'The Age Of Everything', drops on 2 October – and it's been a whirlwind few months since he released last year's 'Fever Dreams Pts 1–4'.
Just when you thought it was all over, Marr's pulled off some incredible recent performances, including a showstopping homecoming gig at Manchester's Castlefield Bowl. He's also been spotted in Dublin's Iveagh Gardens and contributed to the likes of Gorillaz' 'The Mountain' album – not to mention lending his talents to the War Child charity effort.
