Everton and Crystal Palace have finalised a swap deal involving wingers Brennan Johnson and Dwight McNeil. Johnson, a Wales international, departs Selhurst Park only seven months after his £35m club-record move to Palace.
McNeil, who was bought by Frank Lampard for Everton four years ago, now joins Palace. His move comes six months after an initial £20m transfer to the London club collapsed at the close of the January transfer window.
All swap transfers must undergo the Premier League’s fair market value checks. Johnson, who has secured European trophies in his last two seasons and scored Tottenham's Europa League-winning goal in 2025, expressed his desire to return to his best form at Hill Dickinson Stadium. He stated, "It's a massive club and one that when I first heard of the interest, I immediately wanted to come and be part of it."
Johnson becomes the second winger signed by David Moyes this summer, following Tyrique George, as the Everton manager aims to bolster wide options. McNeil, who scored 15 goals in 128 games for Everton, had entered the final year of his contract. He is Palace’s third signing under new manager Pierre Sage, alongside Oscar Mingueza and Takehiro Tomiyasu.
