Luke Littler's ambitious bid for a clean sweep of major televised darts tournaments in a calendar year has been halted. The 19-year-old was defeated 10-4 by Jonny Clayton in their quarter-final clash at the World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam.
Littler had already secured victory in the first five major televised tournaments of the year, aiming to become the first player to win all 10. His journey to the quarter-finals included a narrow 10-9 win over Nathan Aspinall on Saturday night.
The match against Clayton saw a tight start, with Clayton levelling at 3-3 with a 136 checkout before taking control. Clayton sealed his victory with a 40 checkout, setting up a semi-final encounter with Gerwyn Price on Sunday evening.
In other semi-final action, Ross Smith, who beat Josh Rock 10-7, will face Gian van Veen. Van Veen recovered from an 8-6 deficit to claim a 10-8 win over Dirk van Duijvenbode. Price secured his semi-final spot with a 10-7 win over James Wade, achieving an impressive average of 103.86.
