Former heavyweight world champion Joseph Parker announced on Wednesday that he has been cleared to fight again. This follows a failed dope test last October, which had led to a provisional suspension.
The 34-year-old New Zealander, who held the WBO title from 2016 to 2018, had denied taking a prohibited substance. He had faced the possibility of a two-year ban.
Parker stated, "I’m pleased to confirm my provisional suspension is lifted and I’ll be back in the ring soon." He added that he had been advised to say no more while details are finalised.
Robert Smith, general secretary of the British Boxing Board of Control, confirmed that the suspension had been lifted but did not provide further details.
